PETALING JAYA: Travellers who are applying for home quarantine are urged to be patient as the Health Ministry is dealing with a high number of applications for this.
In a Facebook post, the ministry assured travellers that their applications were being reviewed.
"The HSO (Home Surveillance Order) email is receiving a high number of emails and therefore, the response time is longer than usual.
"Please do not send repeated emails as this will overload the system," read the ministry's post on Saturday (Aug 28).
Thanking the public for their patience, the ministry said it was also striving to improve the current system.
Meanwhile, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said applications to undergo home quarantine by travellers entering Malaysia through Johor would be processed by the Johor Health Department.
"Due to the high number of travellers going through the Johor international entry point, such applications will be processed by the Johor Health Department.
"All applications must be sent to cprcjknj@moh.gov.my at least seven days prior to the travellers' arrival in Malaysia," he said in a statement on Saturday.
Travellers must also undergo Covid-19 screening using the RT-PCR test at least three days before departure.
Risk assessment would be conducted on the application to undergo home quarantine.
Houses or places of residences could be considered for home quarantine if they fulfilled requirements.
Such applicants, be they citizens or foreigners, must have a home in Malaysia, test negative for Covid-19 in the RT-PCR Covid-19 test, have been fully vaccinated and possess a suitable home for quarantine.
"Travellers who do not fulfil these requirements must undergo mandatory quarantine at quarantine centres and stations gazetted by the government," Dr Noor Hisham said, adding that the costs would be borne by the traveller.
All travellers would also have to go through health assessments and the RT-PCR test again upon arrival at the international entry point.
