PETALING JAYA: The Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant is back in operation and water supply will resume in stages from Wednesday (Sept 1), says the Environment and Water Ministry.

The Ministry posted a video on Twitter saying that the plant was back in operation.

In a statement on Tuesday (Aug 31), Air Selangor said the plant would resume operation soon.

"Air Selangor would like to inform that zero threshold odour number (TON) readings have been recorded three times consecutively at Sungai Semenyih, allowing the plant to begin operation.

"However, cleaning and flushing still has to be conducted before the water treatment process commences so that treated water can be distributed to the consumer," it said.

It added that the cleaning, flushing and water treatment processes would take approximately 14 hours.

"As such, Air Selangor will be updating the recovery plan for the affected areas tomorrow (Sept 1) at 7am," it added.

Water supply to 463 areas in five Air Selangor regions experienced water disruption due to the shutdown.

Bekalan air dijangka akan mula diagihkan secara berperingkat mulai awal pagi esok 1 September 2021. https://t.co/4vJgizmn8C pic.twitter.com/PzGf0ktqA8
