PETALING JAYA: If you use a Covid-19 self-test kit and the result turns up positive, you must immediately report your status to the district health office (PKD) or the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC), says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
With the Medical Device Authority (MDA) having granted the green light for two self-test kits to be imported and sold in Malaysia, Dr Noor Hisham said the test kit providers would be addressing the mechanism for reporting positive cases.
For now, the current flow for those who test positive for Covid-19 after administering the self-test is that they must report the result to the PKD or CAC so that they can be guided on what to do next.
“On reporting (the results), the companies are addressing the integration. We hope the companies will discuss how to link the positive cases with SIMKA,” he said when contacted yesterday.
SIMKA refers to the Public Health Laboratory Information System, a centralised database for all infectious diseases that laboratories must log both positive and negative RT-PCR results into.
The MDA said another 15 tests are currently undergoing laboratory tests.
