JOHOR BARU: A total of 404,412 senior citizens in Johor have registered for their Covid-19 vaccine through the MySejahtera application, says state Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan ( pic).
He said that the majority of them have received an appointment date to be vaccinated at the 11 mega and integrated vaccine centres (PPVs) across the state.
"The vaccine would be administered to senior citizens in phases. The majority of them have already been given a date for their appointment. However, the remaining 5% will be given an appointment date soon," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 17).
He added that senior citizens and their dependents have been advised to always check their vaccination status on MySejahtera to avoid missing their appointments.
Vidyananthan also noted that a total of 621,778 people or 22.2% of the population in Johor have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 359,494 people have been fully vaccinated.
"As of July 16, 71,623 of our frontliners have received their first dose while 67,004 have been fully vaccinated,” said Vidyananthan.
"Meanwhile, a total of 550,155 senior citizens, people with disabilities and those who suffer from other diseases have also received their first dose of the vaccine and 292,490 have been fully vaccinated," he added
On the Covid-19 situation in Johor, he said 609 new cases were reported on July 16 where 313 cases or 51% were from active clusters.
"As of July 16, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Johor is 77,245 where 71,176 cases or 92% have recovered,” said Vidyananthan.
"There are currently 5,386 active cases and the patients involved are either being quarantined at home, in the hospital or at the Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC)," he added.
Vidyananthan also said that there are currently 123 active clusters in Johor where 57% are industrial clusters, 14% are clusters within the community, 17% are institution clusters, 9% are clusters from supermarkets and 3% are detention centre clusters.
