KUANTAN: A total of 63 personnel from the Kuantan police headquarters have tested positive for Covid-19, while another 39 are currently undergoing quarantine.

Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali (pic) said of the personnel who tested positive, 12 of them were being given regular treatment, 20 were undergoing home quarantine while another 31 were housed at the Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre.

ACP Mohamad Noor said a senior officer who tested positive was currently in the intensive care unit, according to a report by Sinar Harian.

"This infection is believed to have started on July 13. At that time, it only involved a few personnel before it spread and infected others.

"All personnel and officers involved are now excluded from the assignment list. We hope they recover soon and can return to duty as usual," he said.

ACP Mohamad Noor said to cover the shortage of personnel for daily assignments, assistance had been sought from the Pahang police contingent headquarters.

"We are grateful to the Pahang police chief Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf for his concern and assistance in ensuring the police deployment in this district runs smoothly," he said.
