At least two people are dead from two separate car crashes in Englewood Saturday night and Sunday morning, the latter of which was a fatal hit-and-run collision.
A black Jeep traveling south in the 1500 block of West 74th Street ran a red light at 12:38 a.m. Sunday and T-boned a vehicle with two people inside, according to Chicago police. The driver of the car that was hit, an unidentified male, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. An unidentified female, who was also in the car that was hit, also suffered trauma to the body and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
The black Jeep also hit another car facing north on Ashland. The two people inside that car were not injured and refused medical treatment, police said. The Jeep, driven by an unidentified male, fled the scene.
The crash has been categorized as a hit-and-run and police are looking for the black Jeep and its driver.
Earlier, a black Nissan Rogue and a white Kia Optima collided in the 7300 block of South Racine Avenue about 10:40 p.m. Saturday, police said.
One of the passengers in the Nissan, an unidentified woman about 25-years-old, was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Nissan, a 23-year-old woman, suffered trauma to the body and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition. A second passenger in the Nissan, a 21-year-old woman, suffered trauma to the body and was taken to Stroger Hospital where her condition was stabilized, according to Chicago police.
The driver of the Kia, an unidentified female, suffered swelling to the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
