Two men were slain in separate incidents in Southeast Washington.
In one, D.C. police said a man tried to rob another man around 12:16 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE near the Anacostia Freeway in the Anacostia neighborhood.

They both had guns and police said they exchanged fire and hit each other. The victim died and a suspect was found with gunshot wounds a few blocks away, police said. He was arrested and charged.
Tracking D.C.-area homicides
Police later identified the victim as Malcolm Johnson, 27, of Southeast. The suspect, Rondez Tibbs, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with felony murder, according to police.
It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
In another incident, a man was shot around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Elvans Road SE near the Suitland Parkway in the Barry Farm area. His name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.
