Mr Campbell told Ms Dorries, a big supporter of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, that she needed to "get over" the former leader.
Ms Dorries responded: "Actually I find that to be quite a sexist comment!"
Mr Campbell replied: "It really isn't, you seem to think Boris Johnson is still an electoral asset. Rishi Sunak wheeling him out on the eve of the election was one of his many mistakes."

The exit poll makes for grim reading if you are a supporter of the Conservative Party.
Sir Keir's Labour look set to win 410 seats with an overall majority of 170 – as per a poll by Ipsos UK for Sky News/BBC/ITV News.
The Tories are way behind with just 131 seats, down from 365 in 2019.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, and Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer are among the senior Tories who look set to lose their seats.
Former leader of the Scottish Tories, Ruth Davidson, has told Sky News that the result represents a "massacre" for the Conservatives.
