Emergency services were called to the supermarket at around 3pm after a grey Ford Mondeo, a brown Kia Niro and a blue Hyundai i10 collided. Two female pedestrians who were in the car park in Bursledon, Southampton, were also involved in the crash.

Two women, one in her 30s and the other in her 50s, sustained severe injuries. One woman's injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening.

It is believed these patients were the pedestrians.

A man in his 70s, who was driving the Mondeo, also suffered minor injuries, reports Hampshire Live.

All three patients were taken to hospital in Southampton.

Hampshire Police are investigating the accident and are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the impacts.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service told Express.co.uk: "We were called at 15:01 to Hamble Lane to reports of a car that had struck pedestrians. We sent to the scene three ambulance crews, two paramedic officers, BASICs, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

"They were assessing and treating three patients all of which have been taken to University Hospital Southampton by land ambulance. Two patients sustained serious injuries and one sustained non life threatening injuries as a result of the collision."
