       KUWAIT CITY, March 7: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) finalized discussions on the allowances and incentives of employees in some government agencies during its meeting Thursday, which was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sharida Al-Maousherji, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed that in its meeting on Wednesday last week, the CSC reviewed the required bonuses and requests for transfer between various sections of the budget; and discussions in this regard continued Thursday in preparation for taking the appropriate decisions before the end of this month — the date for closing the 2023/2024 budget.

       Sources said the CSC will also look into referring some employees for retirement, as they have reached 38 years in service and are over the legal retirement age. Sources pointed out: “Our responsibility stems from the fact that the CSC, as the entity authorized to circulate rules and regulations to ministries and government agencies, has the Employment Affairs Sector that monitors their implementation. Asked about the number of employees eligible for the retirement referral decision, sources revealed: “We have a group of employees and some occupying supervisory positions whose period of service has reached 38 years; while others have been in service for 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35 years.”

       Regarding the reasons for continuing the service of some employees despite reaching the specified number of years for retirement due to the need for their specializations and academic qualifications; sources disclosed that some of these employees hold a middle school certificate, others high school and some hold a bachelor’s degree. We must be the first body committed to implementing these rules and regulations in general. This is in addition to referring for retirement those whose years in service have exceeded the limit and approved for retirement due to the commitment of all government agencies to implement the relevant regulations.”
