KOTA KINABALU: Malaysians must unite and continue to work with the government in combating Covid-19 as a sign of patriotism, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In his National Day message, the Chief Minister said despite many challenges, Malaysians have always risen to the occasion and stood together to tackle difficult times including the ongoing fight against the pandemic.

He said the pandemic has impacted lives and the economy.

“Let us unite and celebrate the National Day with pride and patriotism. Be grateful for the peace and harmony that we have upheld. Let us set aside our differences and discard elements that may threaten unity,” said Hajiji.

"It is time to focus on our similarities and move forward together to build a better nation,” he added.

Hajiji said the National Day theme - Malaysia Prihatin - is reflective of the resolve and determination of the government and the people to fight Covid-19.

He also said that Malaysians care about one another by celebrating the deeds and sacrifices of all frontliners who have been working so hard throughout the pandemic.

Hajiji said that they have been working tirelessly to ensure that the country stays protected and safe, not only from Covid-19 but also security threats.
