KUALA KRAI: Three flood relief centres (PPS) in the Kuala Krai district have been equipped with a special room each to accommodate victims who test positive for Covid-19.
Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent (PPgB) Muhammad Rizwan Ar-Rafee Parsimin said the affected PPS were at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sultan Yahya Petra 1, SK Manek Urai Baru and SK Dabong.
"Although we have yet to detect a Covid-19 patient among the flood victims, we need to be prepared to face any eventuality," he told reporters after observing the flood situation in Kampung Manek Urai Lama here on Sunday (Dec 19).
He said the affected PPS were monitored by the Health Ministry through the Kuala Krai Health District office, adding that all flood victims would be screened before they are allowed to enter the relief centres, he added.
In another development, Muhammad Rizwan Ar-Rafee said that more than 20 villages in Kuala Krai had been hit by floods following continuous rain since the past few days.
They include Kampung Manek Urai, Kampung Mesek, Kampung Gajah and Kampung Bedal, he said, adding that 22 PPS had been opened to accommodate more than 900 victims as of 9am on Sunday. - Bernama
