PETALING JAYA: Malaysia logged 5,854 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, with only 1.3% of these patients having severe symptoms.
Most of the new infections or 98.7% (5,775 cases) were those in Categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mild symptoms).
“Some 79 cases were under Categories 3, 4 and 5,” said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily Covid-19 update yesterday.
Of the 5,854 new cases, 13 were imported cases involving eight Malaysians and five foreigners.
The new infections yesterday bring Malaysia’s cumulative total cases to 2,466,663 since the pandemic began.
Recoveries outpaced new infections, with 6,715 patients overcoming the coronavirus.
