KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah has rejected claims that the party is planning to contest all seats in peninsula Malaysia in the next general election.

Warisan information chief Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah said that the claims by several news portals and other social media platforms that Warisan was going to contest all the seats were "totally untrue."

He said that the party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal during an online discussion with the Concord Club comprising senior journalists, had said that Warisan was prepared to provide the platform for the yet to be registered Muda to contest on its ticket in the next General Election.

"It did not mean Warisan was contesting all seats in peninsula Malaysia," Awang Ahmad said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 24).

Awang Ahmad said that Shafie did not specify how many seats and constituencies the party would be contesting.

"This matter is still under consideration and discussions will be held at the central level," he said.

Awang Ahmad explained that Shafie's comment on possibly contesting in peninsula Malaysia was a spontaneous response when asked by reporters during the Concorde Club discussion.

However, Ahmad Shah regretted that many people, especially on social media, had begun to spread untruths that the party was going to contest all seats in peninsula Malaysia.

"These people are trying to confuse the public," he added.
