KUALA LUMPUR: Several politicians will be called up for questioning in connection with the investigation into the "PASleak" documents.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said police have begun investigating the matter.
"We expect to call up several politicians soon to record their statements.
"We will investigate the matter thoroughly," he told reporters when met at the launch Ops Selamat on Tuesday (April 26).
On Saturday (April 23), Annuar Musa described the 'PASleak' document as not unusual and therefore, something not needed to be played up.
Annuar, who was also Ketereh MP, said based on his understanding after going through the document, they were only notes by PAS leaders in establishing facts and views of other political party leaders.
The alleged plot was said to involve Terengganu Mentri Besar and PAS vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The plot includes a plan to "expedite" the sentencing of certain Umno leaders charged in court.
The alleged document had claimed that Takiyuddin and Ahmad Samsuri, who supposedly acted as operators to engage with leaders of several political parties, had met with Umno’s Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to discuss the general election and possible cooperation.
Hishammuddin, Ahmad Samsuri and Hamzah had denied there was such a plot.
"Pasleak" refers to several leaked documents, believed to be minutes of a PAS meeting, which point to an alleged conspiracy to topple Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders.
