KOTA TINGGI: Two people have been killed and another severely injured in an accident involving two lorries and a car here.

       Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the incident took place at KM47 Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing at 4.26pm on Tuesday (Nov 2).

       He said it started when a bonded lorry heading towards Mersing lost control and skidded into the opposite lane.

       "It crashed into a car, sending it spinning into a ditch on the left side of the road.

       The second Isuzu bonded lorry that could not avoid crashing into the first one resulted in the death of its driver and passenger.

       "Behind the car was another bonded lorry that could not avoid the first one in time and collided with it.

       "The crash killed the second lorry’s driver and passenger, aged 38 and 30 respectively," he said.

       Supt Hussin added that the 26-year-old driver of the first lorry was severely injured and was being treated in Hospital Kota tinggi.

       The driver of the car managed to escape unhurt, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

       He also advised road users to stay alert and obey traffic regulations while driving to ensure safety for all.
