SEREMBAN: Two family members were killed after a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in was involved in a crash with four other vehicles along Jalan Besar Palong 4, Gemas, near here on Thursday night.
Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said in the 11.50pm incident, the victims, identified as Mohd Azharruddin, 34, and Nor Rohaini, 62, of Felda Palong 12, suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Preliminary investigation found that an MPV driven by a woman, only known as Noorakmawati, with a male passenger, travelling from Dungun, Terengganu to Melaka via Jalan Palong, skidded and crashed into the right rear tyre of a lorry from the opposite direction which was driven by a 39-year-old man
“It also grazed the front part of another MPV coming from the opposite direction,” Bernama quoted him as saying yesterday.
Supt Hoo said the MPV driven by Noorakmawati then collided head-on with the MPV driven by a 29-year-old woman who was travelling with the two victims.
Then, yet another MPV crashed into Noorakmawati’s vehicle.
He said five other victims suffered injuries to the head and abdomen as well as leg fractures while the other three victims escaped uninjured.
