KLUANG: A 27-year-old man waiting for his food at an eatery was severely injured when a car crashed into the premises after running into a dog.
Kluang Asst Comm Low Hang Seng said the accident took place at KM96 Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing near Kahang here at around 8pm on Sunday (Nov 21).
He said a car, driven by a 63-year-old man, heading from Mersing towards Kahang town had first hit a dog that was crossing the road.
“The car then went out of control and swerved into the eatery, and hit a pillar and a motorcycle there.
“The 27-year-old, who was leaning against the motorcycle while waiting for his food, was severely hurt in the incident,” he said, adding that the victim was sent to Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom for emergency medical attention.
ACP Low said the senior citizen received outpatient treatment and no others were hurt in the accident.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving, which is punishable with a fine of RM5,000 to RM10,000, and a jail term of not more than 12 years if convicted.
