JOHOR BARU: A total of 63 people from 25 families are still seeking temporary shelter at a flood relief centre in Batu Pahat.
According to a Batu Pahat disaster management committee secretariat spokesman, only one centre in SK Seri Aman is open statewide as of 5pm on Oct 3 to provide relief to those forced out of their homes due to flash floods.
“The affected families were from the Kampung Baru Seri Gading area in Batu Pahat. This includes those staying in Lorong 1, Lorong 2, Lorong 3, Lorong 7 and Batu 9,” the spokesperson said.
In Johor Baru, the hot weather turned wet in the afternoon with heavy showers in several areas including Skudai and Senai.
According to the Meteorology Department, thunderstorms are expected in various parts of Johor, including the interior and coastals areas in the coming week.
