PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has identified 21 new Covid-19 clusters on Friday (June 25), of which 18 are workplace outbreaks.

       This includes a construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur, which has 142 confirmed cases - the biggest of Friday’s new clusters.

       Named the Tapak Bina Matahari 2 cluster, the outbreak was uncovered from a targeted screening exercise conducted on workers of a construction site in Jalan Peel in Maluri.

       Another workplace cluster was also found from a vegetable farm in Cameron Highlands.

       Named the Kailan Tringkap cluster, the outbreak was first traced to a 42-year-old man who tested positive on June 24.

       He started developing symptoms on June 18.

       So far, 32 people linked to the cluster have been screened, with 17 testing positive.

       The ministry also uncovered a cluster linked to workers of a restaurant in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

       A 46-year-old man who developed symptoms on June 16 tested positive on June 21.

       About 64 individuals had to be screened, and so far nine people are confirmed positive.

       Two clusters in Terengganu and Perak have been classified as community outbreaks.

       One of them is the Pengkalan Gelugor cluster, which involves residents of a village in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.

       Its index case is a 68-year-old woman who underwent a Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) screening and tested positive on June 17.

       So far, 31 cases have been confirmed under the cluster after 90 people were tested.

       One cluster in Sarawak is an outbreak detected at a rehabilitation centre at KM 23 Jalan Kampung Mambong off Jalan Puncak Borneo.

       Its index case is a 35-year-old man who tested positive on June 22 after developing symptoms on June 14.

       About 122 residents of the centre were screened and so far, 65 people have been confirmed infected.

       Currently, there are 873 active clusters nationwide.
