At least one lane is closed on the eastbound carriageway between junction 27 for Newport west and High Cross, to junction 24 for Coldra and Raglan, south Wales. Rush-hour traffic was temporaily held so accident teams could work at the scene.

       It's now reopened but moving slowly past Newport, reports Wales Online.

       Westbound traffic is congested due to onlookers from junction 23A for Magor.

       There are no official diversions in place on the eastbound side but some drivers are leaving at junction 27 to join local roads through central Newport, which are busy as a result.

       They are then rejoining the M4 at junction 24 via the B4237.

       It is believed emergency services attended the crash.

       However, it is not known at this stage if anyone is injured.

       The same stretch of motorway was closed on Monday morning after another crash.

       The horror smash involved two cars and a HGV.
