There is build-up on the M25 in both directions near the junction for the A22 due to demonstrators. A demonstration is preventing access to a roundabout at Godstone on Monday morning, blocking both exit slip roads in the clockwise and anticlockwise directions. Due to the closure of both exit slip roads, drivers are being urged to use alternative routes.
Climate change protesters are understood to be behind the demonstration which is taking place on either side of the A22/M25, and violent scenes between drivers and protestors have emerged.
20 individuals from Insulate Britain are said to be lying down in the road near Kings Langley in Hertfordshire, and the incident is causing delays as traffic in the area is said to be stationary and queuing.
LBC reporter Rachael Venables reported violent scenes at the demonstration, and shared a video showing drivers reacting to the blockage.
In a tweet to her 28k followers, she also said: "Violent clashes between climate protesters and drivers at junction 20 of the M25 this morning.
"‘Insulate Britain’ want the Govt to fund insulation of all homes in Britain by 2030, they say they’ll keep blocking the motorway until that happens."
At 9.29am the first arrests were made at junction 20 of the M25, and protesters are said to have gone calmly with police when told and were put into vans and taken away from the scene.
In a tweet, Insulate Britain confirmed that their protest was due to them "demanding the government and Boris Johnson to create hundreds of thousands of jobs, lower our emissions, and save lives".

One Twitter user queried about the disruption they were causing, asking them to "Have a protest on the side of the road. Allow others to go about their business", the group replied saying "We'd much rather be doing that, Clive, trust us! But history proves that protests that aren't disruptive, achieve very little.
"And with hundreds of thousands of lives, jobs and homes on the line, we don't have time for 'very little'."
At 9.36am protestors temporarily moved from their blockage point to allow emergency service vehicles to pass through.
