KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has pledged to put on hold all the “fancy” state projects of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) if it forms the next government, says its secretary general George Lo.
He said this would include the three Sarawak LRT lines which amounted to more than RM10bil, as well as the construction of the 225km Second Trunk Road.
“We are going to shelve or cancel grand projects by the GPS,” he said in an interview.
Lo said the state’s hydrogen bus project would be cancelled, questioning the feasibility and economic logic for using such vehicles.
“No other country in the world would want to use hydrogen as fuel, yet we are the only country in the world using it,” he claimed.
Lo said PSB’s vision was to eradicate poverty and uplift the quality of life for Sarawakians.
“In the rural areas especially, there still isn’t access to clean water, healthcare, Internet and telephone.
“We want to change this,” he added.
PSB was previously GPS-friendly but became an Opposition party in 2019.
It is contesting 70 of the 82 state seats.
