ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police are currently investigating a rioting incident that occurred right after the Charity Shield football game at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Saturday (Feb 26).
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said that the incident occurred at about 11.15pm outside the stadium after a small group of supporters started to jeer. “There were about 20 to 30 individuals involved.
“The police and the stadium marshall managed to control the situation without any untoward incident,” he said in a statement here on Sunday (Feb 27).
He added that the police would like to remind all supporters not to be fanatics and to always behave themselves either inside or outside the stadium.
“We are currently on the hunt for the individuals who were involved in the incident.
“We would also like to remind people out there to not make any speculations that could lead to public distress,” he added.
In the match, Johor Darul Ta’zim beat Kuala Lumpur 3-0.
