PETALING JAYA: Two ehailing riders who formed a “shield” between an elderly woman seen crossing a busy road junction have won applause from Malaysians.

       A 25-second video showing the act has since gone viral on social media.

       The elderly, with her umbrella doubled up as her walking aid, could be seen trudging across the busy road, with one rider shielding her on the left and the other on the right.

       The riders only left after the woman had reached the other side of the road safely.

       A netizen pointed out that the incident took place in Taman Johor Jaya, but the video, uploaded by Facebook user Jeremy JP, did not mention when it happened.

       The video comes with a caption that reads: “Foodpanda and Grab riders protect an old lady crossing the road. Bless you both.

       The feel-good story came on the back of another heartwarming scene, featuring Malaysian YouTuber Leeroy Wong who had sought help from passers-by to knot his necktie.

       In the social experiment video, Wong was a “jobseeker” who needed help with his necktie, as he was going for a job interview.

       A kind soul came to his aid. After adjusting the necktie, the man even took out a comb to help comb Wong’s hair before leaving.

       Many were in tears upon watching the scene, with one netizen even commented: “This is the beauty of my country, Malaysia.”
