Police are responding to reports of a shooting in Washington, D.C., and are urging residents in the Cleveland Park and Van Ness areas to shelter in place.
D.C. police responded to the area around 3:20 p.m. Friday and found three shooting victims -- two men and one girl, authorities said.
Two men are in critical but stable condition, while the juvenile was hospitalized in stable condition with a minor gunshot wound, police said at a Friday evening press briefing.

Several individuals were detained near the scene to determine whether they were suspects or witnesses, but there are no suspects in custody at this time, according to Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Stuart Emerman.
"We're currently continuing to search the area," Emerman told reporters. "We do not have a motive at this time. We did not know the full details of what took place."

Officials urged the public to avoid the area amid the active investigation.
"Stay in your homes, shelter in place until the police are able to release these scenes," she said at the briefing.

The FBI Washington Field Office confirmed in a statement to ABC News that it is assisting police in the response.
"The situation is ongoing and the FBI will provide appropriate personnel and resources, as requested and needed," the office said.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Washington Field Division are also helping with the shooting investigation.
