A colony of ants invaded a woman's hotel room and covered the bathroom - minutes after she showered.

       Melissa McGarr, 26, was at a hostel in Cat Ba, Indonesia, when the floor, walls and ceiling suddenly became coated by ants.

       Melissa had just showered and left the bathroom, but when she returned she found the insects pouring from the outlet.

       A video shows Melissa, with her hair still wet, and the ants crawling all around her.

       Melissa, a freelance copyrighter from Phoenix, Arizona, USA, said: "This was the first time I saw them. Although I was only here for two weeks, it felt horrible."

       Melissa, who travels full-time, went to get an employee, who sprayed the ants off the wall with the shower and gave her a new room for the night.

       She said: "It was midnight and I went and found an employee, he sprayed them down with the shower hose but said that they were coming out of the outlet.

       "He gave me keys to go sleep in a different room around 1am and the next day told me I could go back to my room and there wasn't a single ant left.

       "I have no clue what he did. I stayed about another week and never saw another one.

       "It made me very weary every time I opened the door."
