Known for his role in the X-men films as Wolverine and musical The Greatest Showman, Hugh Jackman, 53, shared his positive test with his 30 million Instagram followers. The Australian actor shared a video where, donning a mask, he announced the shocking news.

However, the 53-year-old reassured his fans he was experiencing “mild” symptoms.

He captioned the post: “I just wanted to make sure you heard this from me.

       “I tested positive for Covid.

“Mild symptoms and looking forward to getting back on stage ASAP!

“Sending love for a happy and healthy new year.”

In the video uploaded to his Instagram page, the Tony Award-winning actor compared his symptoms to a cold and revealed he is only suffering from a scratchy throat and a runny nose.

He told his followers: “I'm just going to do everything I can to get better ASAP, and as soon as I'm clear, I'll be back on stage, heading to River City.

“Just wanted you to hear it from me, please stay safe, be healthy, be kind.”

Hugh Jackman was performing in The Music Man on Broadway as Harold Hill alongside co-star Sutton Foster.

Ms Foster also tested positive for coronavirus, which she shared on her Instagram stories on Friday.

She said: “Get tested, get vaccinated, get boosted! Stay safe and healthy everyone.”

The Broadway hit performances have been postponed due to Jackman’s diagnosis.

Shows are set to resume on January 2.
