JOHOR BARU: Free shuttle buses provided by the state government to reduce congestion near the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex here have begun operating.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the buses would especially help those carrying heavy luggage and avoid the public from having to face congestion between the BSI and Johor Bahru Sentral.

"Auxiliary polic would also be placed at strategic locations to help ensure everything runs smoothly for users.

"The buses would pick up passengers at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak (City Square) and at Jalan Jim Quee before dropping them off at BSI every 10 minutes," he said, adding that the services will be available until April 30.

He said this in a press statement here on Friday (April 22).

Earlier, Onn Hafiz said the state government has set up a task force to overcome the problem of congestion near the BSI.

He said that among measures that would be taken include providing free shuttle bus services for the public.
