Nigel Farage will never be allowed into the Tory Party to take it over from the inside, it emerged this afternoon.
Despite rumours he may try such a radical move during the election campaign, all six Conservative leadership candidates have now united in opposition to allowing Mr Farage into the party’s folds.

In an intervention today, leadership hopeful Mel Stride became the sixth candidate to rule out any such olive branch, hammering the final nail into the coffin.
The unity between leadership candidates is a stark turnaround from last year’s Conservative Party Conference, when Rishi Sunak said twice that Mr Farage could join the party should he like.
Mr Sunak told reporters: “Our party has always been a broad church.”

However Mr Farage’s dreams were shattered as a number of his closest sympathisers within the Tory Party lost their seats, or failed to enter the leadership race.
Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg told the BBC that Mr Farage had ‘always been a Tory at heart’, suggesting the party should “roll out the red carpet” if he ever wanted to join.
Suella Braverman, who had been considering a second run for leader before dramatically withdrawing from the contest, said in July that Mr Farage should be welcomed into the Tory fold, along with his fellow Reform UK MPs.
In May, current Tory leadership frontrunner Robert Jenrick hinted he could support Mr Farage jumping ship, telling LBC he “would not oppose Mr Farage coming back into the party”.
However since then, he appears to have reversed his position, telling GB News last month that there is “no role” for the Reform UK chief in his party.

Tom Tugendhat, Priti Patel, James Cleverly and Kemi Badenoch have all also ruled out allowing Mr Farage to rejoin.
Asked to respond to this development, Mr Farage said to GB News it is “of no interest to me whatsoever”.
During the election, Mr Farage ruled out doing a deal with the Conservatives, and said he had no desire to join.
Speaking after he announced his dramatic decision to stand as a candidate, Mr Farage said when asked whether he would do a deal with Rishi Sunak: “There are no circumstances whatsoever”.
“We have been betrayed by a Conservative Party I have given considerable help to.”

He told Good Morning Britain: “I think the better thing to do would be to take it over”.
“You can speculate as to what’ll happen in three or four years’ time, all I will tell you is if Reform succeed in the way that I think they can, then a chunk of the Conservative Party will join us - it’s the other way around.”

However in February Mr Farage warned that the right would have to unite at some point, either behind the Tories or behind him.
He told the BBC: “At some point in time people like myself and Jacob Rees-Mogg have to be in the same party - whether that's Reform, whether that's the Conservatives, whether that's something new”.
"Logically, that wing of the party and Reform have to be on the same team."
