PARENTS have claimed their daughters are being dumped in isolation by teachers because of their skirts.

       Fuming mums and dads have lashed out at a school in Runcorn, Cheshire, after around 100 schoolgirls missed out on lessons this week.

       Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy removed pupils from class because their skirts were "too short" and causing a "distraction".

       The school has now found themselves at the centre of an uproar.

       One parent told CheshireLive: "Do they expect them to cover their bodies from head-to-toe?

       "They have over 100 female students isolated from lessons because of this."

       Another raged that the backlash was justified and kids shouldn't be missing out on their education because of their uniform.

       They said: "A new rule, brought out the first day of school term states girls’ skirts should not be above knee length.

       "An uproar has occurred with parents complaining, as they should, about their students missing their education."

       The academy has since been forced to defend their decision and said any student not following their policies would see "sanctions implemented".

       A spokesperson said: "School uniform is an important part of that, as a smart appearance reflects the high standards we set for our students in terms of learning, attitude and behaviour.

       "We have always had a uniform policy, with students aware of the expectations for different items of clothing and we communicated this to students and families ahead of the summer break.

       "As part of this, we were also clear that in instances where students were not following these policies, corresponding sanctions would be implemented, in line with our behavioural policy."

       The school have now given parents until September 25 to buy the 'appropriate' uniform for their daughters.
