JOHOR BARU: Police have received seven police reports with regards to slanderous statements throughout the campaigning period.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the police are taking the cases seriously, as it has the potential to lead to public unrest.

“We would like to advise all political parties to respect one another and avoid taking any action that could disrupt public peace during the campaigning period. We will not hesitate to take stern action in accordance with the law,” he said in a statement here.

With two more days until polling day, political parties have been ramping up their campaigning efforts, either on the streets or on social media.
