Brits in Greece have been told to expect cold weather, including snow, heavy rain and and sleet as a storm rolls in.

       The Met Office said on X on Tuesday: "A cold air outbreak, named Storm Coral by the Greek national meteorological service, will spread southeastwards across parts of the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East this week.

       "Temperatures will average 10-15C below normal, with spells of heavy rain, sleet and snow."

       The Greek national weather services, EMY, said in its advice for Wednesday that locals should expect "a gradual deterioration of the weather" until Monday.

       This includes "an intense cold wave".

       There will be "increased cloudiness" in the eastern and southern mainland, as well as the Aegean, forecasters say, with local rains. In the rest of the country clouds will be "increased".

       Snow may fall over the next few days in Macedonia, Thrace ,Thessaly, as well as the islands of the northeastern Aegean, forecasters warned.

       Wintery precipitation is also due to affect central and eastern Sterea, Evia and eastern Peloponnese. In addition, experts mention the mountainous areas of Crete.

       Frost, meanwhile, "will occur in places in the central and northern regions".

       Officials add that the temperature will drop across the country, which will be？ ？"felt mainly" in the central and northern regions.

       In Macedonia, Thrace and the islands of the northeastern Aegean, temperatures will range from -3C to 7C or 8C. In places in Thessaly, 9C.

       On Thursday, snow will fall in central Macedonia, Thessaly, central and eastern Sterea, as well as Evia from the morning. Weather maps generated by WX Charts on Tuesday suggest some areas of Greece may plunge to -5C in the early hours of Thursday.

       Snow will fall on Friday in western and central Macedonia, Thessaly, the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, in the central and eastern mainland (including Attica), Evia and the eastern Peloponnese from the morning.

       On Saturday, snow will fall in the mountainous, semi-mountainous areas, and in areas with lower altitude in the east and north of the country, in the mountainous areas of Evia, Crete, as well as the islands of the north and eastern Aegean.

       Sunday will see snow falling in the mountainous areas, the "semi-mountainous" areas as well as in areas with lower altitudes in the east and north of Greece. Similarly, snow may hit the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean.
