SUNGAI BULOH: Police have crippled two motorcycle theft syndicates with the arrests of 13 men.

       Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Shafaaton Abu Bakar said police were initially alerted following a motorcycle theft near Bandar Pinggiran Subang on May 14.

       "The owner lodged a report that he parked the machine along Jalan Pluto AZ U5/U5 at around 8pm and when he came back to ride it off at around 12.10am, it was missing.

       "Based on our intelligence and investigations we launched a series of raids in Kuang and Sungai Pelong and arrested six youths aged between 15 and 17 years old," she told reporters on Thursday (June 16).

       She said that based on the arrests, police seized five motorcycles, a motorcycle chassis and motorcycle components.

       "The suspects confessed to being involved in 15 motorcycle theft cases.

       "Our checks revealed the suspects have been active since January this year and targeted Honda EX5 motorcycles," she said.

       Supt Shafaaton said that based on the arrests of the first group, police arrested seven other male suspects between June 7 and 11.

       "We were alerted after a laundry shop was broken into and the cash machine was stolen near Kampung Sungai Pelong on May 31.

       "We also received information that a motorcycle had been stolen on April 20 near Kampung Melayu, Sungai Buloh," she said, adding they arrested the seven suspects following raids at Sri Damansara, Kampung Matang Pagar, and Kampung Paya Jaras Dalam.

       She said that based on the arrests, police seized five motorcycles, seven motorcycle frames, four engines, and other components.

       "The suspects have confessed to involvement in 25 motorcycle thefts and three laundromat break-ins".

       She said investigations revealed the two groups were led by 15-year-old boys.
