KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will conducting “Ops Lancar” at traffic congestion hotspots nationwide for the coming Hari Raya festivities, says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The Inspector-General of Police said police, through Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigaton and Enforcement Department (JSPT), will conduct the operation to ensure smooth traffic flow for those leaving for their hometowns for Hari Raya as well as when they head back home after the holidays.

“All police elements in the field, including mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) units and motorcycle patrol units (URB), will be mobilised systematically to ease congestion on highways and main roads,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 27).

Ops Lancar will run concurrently with Ops Selamat for road safety, which was launched on Tuesday (April 26), he added.

He advised road users to keep updated with the latest traffic information, especially on JSPT’s Facebook page, to plan their travels well.

“Be a good road user by complying with all traffic rules and regulations for everyone’s safety.

“Don’t misuse the emergency lane or overtake across double lines. Always be mindful of other road users,” he added.

Acryl Sani said members of the public are also encouraged to share information on traffic violations with JSPT so that action can be taken.

“Both Ops Selamat and Ops Lancar are aimed at ensuring the safety of road users throughout their journeys during the Hari Raya holidays.

“Cooperation from the public throughout the operation will ensure convenience for all road users and smooth traffic,” he said.
