A dramatic video captures the moment two daredevil skiers descend from the top of Mount Etna, as the volcano spews lava from its crater.

Italy's tallest volcano started erupting last weekend, following a number of strombolian explosions from its Southeast Crater.

The snowy surroundings of Sicily’s famous volcano were lit up again following a second eruption on Tuesday, as it emitted lava around 3,000 metres above sea level.

The eruption appears to have attracted thrill seekers, keen to test their courage and mettle in the face of danger.

A video posted to social media channels shows a number of skiers coming down the snowy slopes of Etna, with hot rivers of lava streaming from the crater just behind them.

The breathtaking footage shows plumes of thick black smoke rising from the snowcapped summit of Etna, and lava flowing from the new Bocca Nuova crater.

At 3,330 metres Etna is Europe's highest volcano, towering above the Sicilian town of Catania.

The volcanic soils produced by its frequent eruptions allows for extensive farming.

Vineyards and orchards spread across the lower slopes of the volcano and the Plain of Catania to the south.

Etna's most popular crops are its citrus fruits, with lemons and oranges thriving in the fertile soils.

Apples are also grown in orchards near the volcano and are renowned for their sweetness and small size.

Another speciality are the delicious strawberries grown in Maletto, on the north-western side.
