SIBU: A woman loses RM1,510 after falling for a foreign exchange scam on social media.

       Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkifli Suhaili said on April 19, the housewife saw an advertisement in her Facebook account for foreign exchange service.

       "She was interested in exchanging Ringgit to Renminbi and was told that the rate was 300 Renminbi for every RM200," he said.

       After sending RM200 to the suspect, she was tricked into sending more, and withdrew some money from her EPF account.

       ACP Zulkifli said she sent RM1,510 in 13 transactions to the suspect.

       She realised that she had been conned when she did not get the Renminbi.

       The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
