KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno members have been told to strengthen the party’s election machinery and not look for positions as the party branches begin their annual meetings.

       Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the branch meetings should focus on improving the party to meet the needs of the people.

       “Our strength is from the grassroots where issues raised at the branch meetings will be brought up to the division level.

       “We must set aside the quest of holding a post in the division or on becoming a candidate in the next general election.

       “It is important that we strengthen the party machinery to ensure Umno’s victory in the next election,” he said in a statement.

       Bung Moktar, who is Deputy Chief Minister, also advised Umno members to comply with Covid-19 prevention measures.
