MOTHERHOOD did not come easy for Nur’Ain Mohd Ali when she experienced extreme swelling on her face, Harian Metro reported.
The 28-year-old from Kota Tinggi, Johor, first noticed the changes when she was three months pregnant with her second child.
“There were wrinkles on my forehead, and when my forehead began to swell, the wrinkles got deeper and my skin started to sag,” she said, adding that she also broke out in acne due to oily skin and hormonal changes.
Recalling her ordeal on Facebook, Nur’Ain said she was grateful for her husband Zaki Izani Ramli, 37, her mother and mother-in-law who kept her spirits up with positive encouragement amid negative remarks by other people.
“They always advised me to be patient because that is the sacrifice of a mother,” she said, adding that she did not experience allergies during her first pregnancy.
Despite the challenge, Nur’Ain, who gave birth four months ago, said she was thankful that her delivery process was smooth and her son is healthy.
Her face has gone back to normal, helped along by a prescription from her doctor, with only faint acne scars.
“I did not dare take any medicine for my face because I was worried that it could affect my baby.
“I only started my medication after giving birth, during two months of confinement,” she said.
