KUALA LUMPUR: With dozens of MCA’s Crisis Relief Squad team members delivering flood aid nationwide, party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has called for the Winter Solstice to be celebrated through unity before hardship.
“Human beings are so small and powerless in the face of disasters,” Dr Wee said, expressing thanks to squad members for helping the community and even sweeping mud out of homes after floods receded.
“Some of them put their jobs aside, sacrificed time with their families and are now at the forefront of giving to the community silently,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 21).
He expressed sympathy for flood victims who had to greet the Winter Solstice while dealing with floods.
For Malaysia, which is in the northern hemisphere, the Winter Solstice on Tuesday (Dec 21) brings the shortest day and longest night of the year.
Expressing empathy for Malaysia’s struggle against the pandemic and floods in many regions, Dr Wee called on Malaysians to greet the Winter Solstice with love and support for each other.
