KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracing the whereabouts of a motorcyclist for allegedly flinging a spanner and shattering the rear windshield of an MPV along Jalan Kuching here.
A video of the incident, believed to be dashcam footage from the MPV, was circulated on social media on Monday (Feb 21).
The video shows a motorcyclist showing a middle finger at the driver of the MPV after overtaking the vehicle.
Checks on Tuesday (Feb 22) however show that the video has however been taken down.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said police received a report on the incident at around 4pm on Monday over the incident.
"The incident allegedly occurred when the Toyota MPV sounded its horn at a motorcyclist for changing lanes dangerously.
"The motorcyclist showed a middle finger to the driver of the MPV and rode off," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 22).
He said the driver of the MPV thought nothing of it and continued driving.
"Moments later, he glanced at his side mirrors and saw the motorcyclist trying to approach the car and fling an object.
"The object shattered the rear windshield of the car," he said, adding that the driver stopped to check his vehicle and found a spanner in the car.
ACP Beh said police are now tracing the whereabouts of the motorcyclist to assist further investigations into mischief and causing damage.
"We urge those with information on the case to come forward," he said, adding that those with information can contact the Sentul police operations room at 03-4048 2206.
