ALOR SETAR: The suspects’ cunning tactics were uncovered when police inspected a pickup truck at Kampung Baru Balai Pos, Jalan Sungai Korok, Ayer Hitam and discovered drugs worth RM349,800, says Kedah state police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh.
Police arrested two Thai men at 11pm on Dec 28 and seized 10.6kg of syabu hidden in a spare tyre of the pickup.
Both suspects, aged 25 and 41, tried to flee when they saw the police but they were caught after a scuffle.
“We found 10 green plastic packets containing clear plastic bags filled with syabu hidden in the spare tyre under the rear of the vehicle.
“All the seized drugs can be used by nearly 20,000 addicts,” he told reporters here yesterday, reported Bernama.
Fisol said the drugs were believed to have been smuggled from neighbouring countries to be distributed to addicts here.
The suspects have been remanded for seven days for investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and their urine test came back positive for methamphetamine.
