Sean Lock fans have called for his spoof "The Tiger who Came for a Pint" book to be published in his honour.

The 8 Out of 10 Cats comedian passed away this week aged 58 after a long battle with cancer.

Now, as a way to remember the much-loved star, fans are urging publishers to release copies of his take on children's book The Tiger who Came to Tea to raise money for charity.

Sean's joke became one of his most-popular moments on spin-off 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown and clips have been widely shared by supporters online.

In it, Sean's tiger protagonist longs for "a pint that packs a punch like Stella or Kronenbourg" to "wash down the zookeeper he’d just eaten".

The book continues: "He liked the atmosphere of Wetherspoons. Plus he was barred from the King’s Head for mauling the darts team.

"The tiger drank his pint quietly beside the quiz machine. Soon, what with the beer, fags and flame-grilled McCoy's, he'd spent all his money.

"But he didn't half have a thirst on."

Sean then describes how the tiger "drank all the beer from all the kegs" before eating "the meat raffle' and "going to the toilet on the bar".

When it is time to go home, the deputy manager calls the tiger a taxi.

The comedian continues: "It took a while to get one as the first two drivers they sent said, 'Are you mental?'

"Finally, Pavel from Station Cars greeted him.

"The journey went smoothly and, after a lot of questioning, the tiger said, 'Look, for the last time, it’s not a onesie!'"

Sean finishes his book to roaring laughter from the crowd, reading: "Wetherspoons deputy manager George never saw the tiger or Pavel, the Station Cars driver, ever again. The end."

Heartbroken fans called on publishers to make the book available to purchase in Sean's memory, with many saying proceeds should go to a cancer charity.

Lock's agent confirmed on Wednesday that the comedian had passed away from cancer.

The star was previously diagnosed with skin cancer in 1990 while he worked on a building site - but it is not known if it was this cancer that killed him.

He went on to make a full recovery and has since worked with others to help raise awareness of the disease.

Martin Spurs N?rden wrote on Twitter: "We need to get Tiger Who Came for a Pint" printed in memory of Sean Lock. Proceeds to go the research into cancer."

Brian Hutton added: "We all want Sean Lock's hilarious book, The Tiger Who Came for a Pint to be published for charity."

David Hicks said: "Someone (a publisher?) needs to put this book together for a charity of his family’s choosing.

"I can help but need those illustration files that Sean Lock used? Would also help pay for it."

Meanwhile, Paul Gilbert wrote: "The Tiger Who Came For A Pint seriously needs to be published. Hilariously funny."
