PETALING JAYA: Approximately 20 squatter homes were destroyed by a fire behind a school in Kolombong, Sabah, early Friday morning (Jan 21).
Lintas fire station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said the incident which occurred around 4am, saw 12 firefighters from the Lintas fire station rushed to the scene alongside firefighters from Kota Kinabalu and Penampang.
“The fire has resulted in an estimated 20 squatter structures destroyed.
“There was also a victim who reported difficulty in breathing and has been given early treatment by the Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) team before being sent to the hospital,” she said in a statement, reported Sinar Harian.
She added that the situation was under control by 5am while efforts to extinguish the fire completely were still being carried out.
