PETALING JAYA: The Selangor government has decided that effective Nov 1, construction works across the entire state can only run from 8am to 6pm, and Mondays to Saturdays.
"The Selangor government has agreed to standardise the operating hours of the construction sector in the state," Selangor local government, public transport and new village development committee chairman Ng Sze Han said in a statement Thursday (Nov 25).
"The decision was made to facilitate the process of construction work, in line with the opening of more economic sectors after Selangor moved to Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan last October.
"We are aware that the various movement control order restrictions imposed since last year have had a direct impact on the industry's operations, thus resulting in late completion of construction works," he said.
However, he said that developers and contractors of selected projects that want to carry out works beyond stipulated hours have to seek special permission from respective local authorities.
"They are also reminded to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures and bylaws outlined," said Ng.
