PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 959 individuals for various standard operating procedure violations.

       The violations include failure to observe social distancing (251), cross border travel without permission/eating at premises (198), failure to register when entering premises (144), not wearing face masks (134), failure to abide by the movement control order (84), ferrying more passengers than allowed (64), premises failing to comply with SOP (19), activities at entertainment centres (4), and other offences (61).

       Of those arrested on Monday (June 21), 923 individuals were issued with compound notices, and 36 were remanded.

       The taskforce monitoring SOP compliance checked 91,112 premises on Monday, including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.

       Also checked were wet markets/pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places, and sea transport terminals.

       On Ops Benteng, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said 35 illegal immigrants were arrested and seven vehicles as well as four marine vessels were seized.

       “Enforcement authorities also detected the presence of 158 boats in Malaysian waters,” he said on Tuesday (June 22).

       On screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said that 85 individuals were tested on June 21, of which five were tested positive.

       Cumulatively, 699,399 foreign workers from 36,306 employers were sent for Covid-19 screenings.

       During this exercise, which was made mandatory beginning Feb 1, 10,360 foreign workers were found to be positive.

       Ismail Sabri also said that 404 individuals had arrived in Malaysia on Monday, and all were sent for quarantine at government designated stations.

       Since July 24 last year, a total of 231,495 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.

       On disinfection of public spaces, 128 operations were carried out nationwide on Monday at 63 red zones, along with three orange and yellow zones, respectively.

       Since March last year, 28,663 disinfection exercises were carried out at government offices, supermarkets, business centres and public housing areas.
