PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 420 individuals for various standard operating procedure violations.

The offences include cross border travel without permission/eating at premises, no social distancing, failure to register when entering premises, failure to abide by movement control order and premises that did not follow SOP.

Of those arrested on July 20, 332 individuals were slapped with compound notices, 82 were remanded and six were released on bail.

The task force monitoring standard operating procedure compliance had checked 68,921 premises involving 18,351 personnel on Tuesday (July 20), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

On Ops Benteng, he said five undocumented migrants were arrested and a land vehicle was seized.

“Enforcement authorities detected the presence of 15 undocumented migrants and four vessels in Malaysian waters during six sighting activities,” he said on Wednesday (July 21).

On screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said that 44 people were sent for swab tests of which four were tested positive.

Cumulatively, the Human Resource Ministry said that 701,195 foreign workers had been screened for Covid-19 involving 36,461 employers.

The government had imposed mandatory screenings for foreign workers beginning Feb 1.

Ismail Sabri said that 735 individuals had returned to Malaysia on Tuesday and all were sent to observe mandatory quarantine at government-designated stations.

Since July 24 last year, a total of 253,037 individuals had returned and were sent for quarantine at 83 hotels and 11 training institutes nationwide.
