PUTRAJAYA: A total of 190 people were arrested for violating the standard operating procedure while eight more localities in Sabah will come under enhanced restrictions.
Of those arrested on Tuesday, 173 were slapped with compound notices while 17 others were remanded.
The task force monitoring SOP compliance had carried out 79,061 checks involving 19,730 personnel on Tuesday, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic), adding that 33 premises were ordered to close for failing to comply with the SOP.
On Tuesday, authorities carried out checks on 1,617 factories, 17,376 business premises, 501 construction sites and 245 workers’ hostels.
“Enforcement authorities arrested two undocumented migrants and seized five land vehicles under Ops Benteng,” Hishammuddin said yesterday.
He said 718 individuals had also returned to Malaysia yesterday, all of whom were sent for mandatory quarantine at government-designated centres.
Meanwhile, eight localities in Sabah would be placed under an enhanced movement control order from Aug 13 to 26, he said.
In Tawau, the enhanced MCO will involve three localities: Kampung Kongsi 8, Kampung Bergosong in Pulau Sebatik and PPR Taman Sri Apas, Batu 8.
Ladang Reka Halus and Ladang Boustead Trunkline in Beluran will also be under enhanced MCO, along with Kampung Kayu Madang in Telipok, Kota Kinabalu, Kampung Batition in Kota Marudu and Kampung Sunsuron in Tambunan.
Hishammuddin also said the enhanced MCO placed on Kampung Orang Asli in Brooke Post in Gua Musang, Kelantan, Kampung Jedip WCT, Kampung Sendrop and Kampung Seng Sang had been extended.
“Eleven localities in Tuaran, Sabah, will also have their enhanced MCO extended,” he said.
These are Kampung Beturai, Kampung Bolong Baru, Kampung Bontoi, Kampung Kindu, Kampung Lapasan, Kampung Serusop, Kampung Sungai Damit, Kampung Timbok, Kampung Simpangan, Taman Sri Rugading and Taman Telipok Ria.
Hishammuddin said the lockdown placed on Kampung Lahat-Lahat in Pulak Sebatik, Tawau, as well as on Ladang Bukit Mas and Ladang Linbar 1 in Kinabatangan had also been extended until Aug 26.
