More funds allocated for state-run universities: Balochistan CM

       QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that more funds have been allocated in the budget to increase the annual grant of all public sector universities in view of the financial crisis being faced by them.

       Speaking at a function organised by the Voice of Balochistan Youth Mobilisation Campaign on Monday, he said residential schools were being set up in all 33 districts of Balochistan at a cost of Rs10 billion.

       He said 12 new colleges had also been included in the Public Sector Development Programme.

       The chief minister said youths of the province would be prepared to meet the future challenges by providing them modern education.

       “Youths are of utmost importance in the development of any province or nation. With best education and training, they can be made useful and better citizens,” he said.

       He said it was an era of information technology and its use would create new development and employment opportunities, which would provide skilled employment to the youths.

       “I have a great tendency and ability to move forward but the province cannot be develop with speeches and statements alone. For this we need to focus on other important areas, including education. In this regard, the provincial government is taking special measures according to the needs of the youths,” he added.

       Mr Alyani said his government was taking practical steps to build 12 colleges in Quetta. He said plans were afoot to set up boarding schools in all districts to provide the best educational environment to the youths.

       The chief minister said that rallies and hunger strikes could not serve the nation, but schools, colleges, hospitals and water supply were necessary for solving basic problems .

       At the end of the ceremony, the chief minister distributed laptops among the students of various universities and colleges.
