JOHOR BARU: PKR has offered three of its 20 seats that it is contesting in the Johor state elections to the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda).

State PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said the party has held a series of discussions with Muda, which was in line with Pakatan Harapan’s presidential council and Johor Pakatan.

“In the series of discussions, each party has given their open and honest opinions.

“As a result of these discussions, PKR has offered three seats to Muda, and is awaiting a response to the offer,” he said in a statement here Wednesday (Feb 9) night.

Earlier, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) had completed seat negotiations with Muda.

"The consensus between Amanah, DAP and Muda is that Muda will contest in the following six seats - Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Parit Raja, Machap, Puteri Wangsa, Bukit Permai," said DAP, Amanah and Muda in a joint statement.

PKR was briefly mentioned in the joint statement.

Disunity within Pakatan became apparent last week following PKR's decision to use its own logo in the Johor polls, while DAP and Amanah would use Pakatan’s logo.

On Jan 27, Amanah and DAP issued a separate joint statement criticising PKR's decision, saying that a common logo was vital in an uphill battle.

On Feb 6, PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was quoted as saying that Muda wanted to contest 10 seats in the Johor state elections.

Anwar said Muda had been told to send in its candidate list before negotiations could commence.

Nominations for the Johor state election has been set on Feb 26 and polling on March 12.
